CDC's National Comprehensive Cancer Control Program

Leslie S. Given, BA, MPA, Team Lead/Partnerships and Collaboration, Program Services Branch, Division of Cancer Prevention and Control , Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 4770 Buford Highway NE Mailstop K-57, Atlanta, GA 30341

Since 1998, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been supporting the development and implementation of comprehensive cancer control (CCC) plans through its National Comprehensive Cancer Control Program. As of spring 2006, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, 6 tribal governments or organizations and 10 US territories receive support through CDC's program. With this support, health agencies continue to establish broad-based CCC coalitions, assess the burden of cancer, determine priorities for cancer prevention and control, and establish the infrastructure necessary to develop and implement CCC plans. This presentation will provide an overview of CDC's national program and describe how CDC works with other national partners to support state, tribal and territory efforts to address the burden of cancer through comprehensive cancer control efforts.
