Bridging the Gap: Transforming Knowledge into Action

July 8-12, 2006, Washington, DC, USA

Sunday, 9 July 2006 - 3:30 PM
57-1

United States Cancer Statistics on the World Wide Web

Hannah K. Weir, PhD1, Shannon Orr, BA2, and Cheryll J. Cardinez, MSPH1. (1) National Program of Cancer Registries, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 4770 Buford Highway, Mailstop K53, Atlanta, GA 30341, (2) National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 4770 Buford Highway NE, Mailstop E62, Atlanta, GA 30341

Each year when United States Cancer Statistics (USCS) is published in printed format, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) update the previous years' data on the World Wide Web (http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/npcr/uscs). The USCS website replicates all the text, tables, and figures in the printed version and adds the following: 1) cancer incidence rates for men and women combined, 2) crude rates, and 3) state rankings of incidence and mortality for selected major invasive cancers. This session will provide a step-by-step demonstration of the USCS website. After the demonstration, participants will have an opportunity to provide feedback for improvements and enhancements of the website.
