Details will be provided on the guideline being applied to the bone pain efforts. Highlighted will be the areas that seem successful, and those where we need to develop our process more.

Methods:

Results: Canada is fortunate to have a group of stakeholders who came together to create the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control. This group identified five priority areas for the Canadian cancer control system, one of which was clinical practice guidelines (CPGs).

This CPG action subgroup has been working on a model and process for evidence-based CPGs to be appraised and adapted and/ or adopted. Three clinical test areas were selected: cervical screening, colorectal screening and the treatment of pain arising from bone metastases.

A report on the first findings of the bone pain group will be reviewed in detail along with implications for practitioners.
