UICC World Cancer Congress 2006Bridging the Gap: Transforming Knowledge into ActionJuly 8-12, 2006, Washington, DC, USA |
Methods: We have investigated 80 operations reports on patients with PNT . Patients was treated in abdominal department N.N.Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center in the period since 1990 to 2004
Results:
47,5 % out of this number were complete resected, 33,7 % of patients had macroscopical residual tumor. Exlorative laparotomy was carried out in 18,8 % cases. 37% out of the general number of operations were combined surgical interventions. And the combined operations have helped to conduct complete resection of a tumor in 53 % of cases out of the general number of the combined operations. Often the success of operation depends on correctness of the chosen operative approach. The new combined surgical approach was invented in order to increase PNT operability and to low a rate intraoperative complications. Expansion of operational action zone is achieved by cutting off of the medial end lig.inguinalis with a part os pubis. Application of the new approach has allowed to conduct a line of successful complete PNT resections. The basic ways of improvement of surgical treatment results are application of the combined interventions. The method invented by us has provided safety of access at surgical treatment of PNT.
