There are registries in the southern part of Kerala and there is difference between the tobacco habit in the southern and northern part of Kerala. The crude incidence rate for lung cancer for men was 23/100,000 population and 2.4/100,000 for females. Among females the prevalence of tobacco smoking habit is negligible. Mouth cancer ranks the fourth position in females. The rate was 5.5/100,000. Among females, tobacco chewing habit was high when compared to males. Among men mouth cancer incidence rate was 4.2/100,000.
