UICC World Cancer Congress 2006

Objective:Reduce cases of environmental related cancers by empowering the community on the best preventive measures especially the factory workers and initiate early detection strategies in the working places and the sorounding community.

Methods:This is done by initiating educative programs in the working area and the community at large. This is done in collaboration with the area leaders during the communty meetings by the Nurses allocated by the hospital for this purpose. They do distribute fliers and brochures besides giving health talk in relation to best health practices

Results: The number of environmental relted cancers has gone down by a fraction, Employers has accepted and sponsors the screening exercise of their employees every once a year and where neccesary. The community response is encouraging.
