Methods: This program was conducted by gave training to the teachers first, and then they were asked to apply this program in their own schools. Pre and post observational visit and interview were conducted for evaluating the program. This program covered some topics about healthy life style, healthy eating habit, smoking behavior and lung cancer, early breast examination (for primary and high school ), and the prevention of cervical cancer ( for high school students).
Results:
This program was well accepted and implemented in 15 schools in Yogyakarta Special Province. The coverage of the program were the pupils, the teachers, other staffs of the schools, parents of pupils, and food peddler (people who sell food surrounding the school). There were many behavior changes :1) Pupils, teachers and staffs who smoke were not smoke anymore, at least reduce smoking; 2) Pupils did not choose the very bright c food color; 3) Pupils chose more fresh salad or fruits instead of fatty foods; 4). More physical exercise for extracurricular activities; 5) Teachers, staff and pupils are more aware of healthy sanitation; 6) School canteen and food sellers provided more healthy food. 7) Youth cancer awareness groups were established in junior and senior high schools,
