Fishing Where the Fish Are: Raising Money from Individuals

Mal Warwick, Mal Warwick Associates, 2550 Ninth Street, Suite 103, Berkeley, CA 94705

An estimated two-thirds of all the philanthropic income of NGOs worldwide comes not from foundations, corporations, or other institutional funders but from individuals. In this intensive, hands-on session, you will gain insight into how the world's most successful fundraising organizations secure generous gifts from individual donors. Best-selling author, consultant, and public speaker Mal Warwick will help you understand why people give (or don't) and what donors want the most (and what happens when they don't get it). You'll learn “The 10 Most Important Things About Raising Money from Individuals” and “Five Keys to Successful Fundraising.” You'll learn how professional fundraisers minimize risks and maximize profits when using direct mail, face-to-face solicitation, and special events (the most commonly used methods to raise money from individuals).

Method: This session will feature PowerPoint presentation, individual exercises, question-and-answer discussion, and handouts.
