Strategic Health Communication
At no time in history has it been so easy for so many people to access such a vast wealth of information. Radio and television continue to be powerful communications tools, and the Internet has multiplied exponentially our ability to make large amounts of information available to a wide audience quickly and easily. New knowledge of health behavior, new technologies, in conjunction with proven communications strategies are altering health care practices, patient-physician relationships, and the way consumers and patients acquire and use information to reduce the cancer threat. However, substantial barriers remain, preventing major segments of the world’s population from accessing and/or using information and online tools. This session will help participants understand the importance of strategic health communication to the attainment of desired public health program outcomes. Panelists will document effective interventions/interactions across the continuum of cancer prevention and control.
