The Power of Public Policy
Public policy is increasingly being recognized as a key factor in ensuring effective cancer control. It is vitally important to engage decision-makers, whether nationally or locally, in policy dialogue, and in the outlining of concrete steps that governments can take to implement cancer control programs and activities. This session focuses on the power of public policy, and the capacity of people working in cancer control, at all levels, to achieve necessary change. It will demonstrate the dramatic potential of public policy actions across different cultures. Panel members will also address how science and research can be used to influence decision-makers, consider the role of advocacy coalitions, and provide information and advice on making things happen.
