The 13th World Conference on Tobacco OR HealthBuilding capacity for a tobacco-free worldJuly 12-15, 2006, Washington, DC, USA |
- Ratification of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control - The declaration of the Romanian President, regarding the necessity to increase the tobacco taxation in order to increase the level of people's health - Media articles against the cooperation between Governmental structures representatives and Tobacco Industry representative
This kind of things never happened before in Romania and due to above facts we consider that the current situation enable our organization, Romanian Network for Smoking Prevention, to develop and implement more activities in order to improve and adapt tobacco control policies in different areas with focus on the enforcement of the existing smoke free environment legislation.
Recent studies demonstrates that there is a lack of enforcement of the current smoke-free indoor air legislation that conducted to the failure in creating smoke-free environments in order to protect the population from second-hand smoke. In order to obtain a smoke free environment policy nationally coordinated we developed tools like:
• The “Questionnaires for Assessing the Level of Smoke Free Policies Implementation of Romanian Hospitals” • The "Romanian Guideline for a tobacco-free hospital" • The “Questionnaire for Assessing the Level of Preparedness of Romanian Enterprises for Elaboration and Implementation of Tobacco Control Policies” • The “Guideline for Elaboration and Implementation of Tobacco Control Policies in Romanian Enterprises” • FCTC brochure (Romanian language) and FCTC implementation guide.
