From Letter Writing to Legislative Visits: Youth Advocating for Policy Change in New Hampshire and Across the USA

Kaitlyn J. Reilly, Dover Youth to Youth, 122 Grove St., Dover, NH 03820

Are you changing policies in your community, state, province or country? Are you new to the movement and looking for a creative approach to tobacco policy 101? Are you working to ratify and implement the FCTC in your country? Are you already advocating for smoke-free workplaces, comprehensive tobacco prevention programs, and increased taxes on tobacco products?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, or all of the above, then we have the perfect session for you! Some of the most effective advocates for policy change around the world are youth advocates. Dynamic, creative, passionate, and tired of being targeted by multi-national, multi-billion dollar, multi-million-deaths-per-year tobacco companies – they are some of the most powerful lobbyists this movement has. So, join them as they share successful advocacy strategies from around the world, and help you develop action plans to support youth advocacy in your community and country. Youth advocates from around the world will also join these five representatives as members of the workshop audience and will assist in facilitating the discussion and sharing additional examples of successful youth efforts.
