Objective: This abstract shows that the heavy smoking of various substances like cigarettes and Indian helm is one of the major risk factor for ASTHMA among young adult men in West Africa.

Methods: A survey of 196 Asthma young men, was selected through simple random sampling techniques through a validated questionnaire [r=0.75] from streets and bar houses in Ibadan, Nigeria.

Results: 124 out the samples are heavy smokers, 37 were light smokers, while the remaining 35 are non-smokers. The Relative Risk [RR] calculated is 2.6, RR being greater than 1, indicating that the considered factor is the risk factor.
