Smoking Behavior in Primary Schools in Lilongwe,Malawi

Objective: To investigate the relationship amongst school children, smoking and playing football.

Methods: 100 pupils were enrolled in the study. 50 were playing football and smoking and the other 50 were playing football but non smokers. The pupils were observed on there performance for a period of six months. They were on weekly basis tested for there heart beats.

Results: 40% out of the 50 smoking pupils were found to suffer from regular chest pains and breathing problems. 90% of the non smoking group performed very well in there football act ivies with no chest pains.
