Tobacco Terrorism in Nepal: an Urgency of Comprehensive Legislation

Objective: The paper is aimed to justify an urgency of the comprehensive legislation dealing with tobacco.

Methods: Existing legislative provisions and regulations are reviewed in order to identify weaknesses and drawbacks.

Results: The paper reveals the fact that existing legal provisions in this regard are insufficient to tackle the existing problems related to tobacco. The paper also shows that absence of comprehensive laws dealing with public smoking, advertising and leveling etc. tobacco related health problem is resulting in growing tobacco related health problem. As per the findings of the paper comprehensive legislation is must to counter the tobacco terrorism in Nepal. The paper also recommends for ratifying the Framework Convention concerning tobacco as Nepal has already signed in the convention.
