Objective: The STATE System is an electronic data warehouse containing up-to-date and historical state-level data on tobacco use prevention and control. The System offers the following type of reports:

Detail: detailed information for a single state, at a single point in time, for a single measure.

Comparison: data for all states at a single point in time, for a single measure. Users can display the data on the webpage or export data to an Excel spreadsheet.

Trend: data for multiple states, include multiple years, and multiple measures. Users can display the data on the webpage or export data to an Excel spreadsheet. Users can also create graphs of the data selected in the report.

Highlights: detailed information for a single state, at a single point in time, and includes many measures from across topics within the System.

Methods: The System presents over 330 state-level data measures categorized into seven topic areas: Demographics, Behaviors, Economics, Environment, Funding, Health Consequences and Costs, and Legislation.

Results: The System is designed to integrate many data sources to provide comprehensive summary data and facilitate research and consistent data interpretation. Tobacco control program managers and evaluators can use the System's broad range of data and advanced reporting features to report on detailed single state data, trends over time, compare data for multiple states, export data to a spreadsheet for further analysis, and produce attractive graphs to export for use in presentations as well as to identify program priorities and measure progress toward program goals.
