Objective: The Catalan Network of Smoke-Free Hospitals is joined by 64 centers and includes 82.02% enrollments of the Public Catalan Hospitals. The hospitals members are in different implementation phases of a cross sectional preventive intervention. Therefore, it is necessary to use two surveys to evaluate each hospital project and to measure the applied smoke-free policies

Methods: The survey were run in 27 hospitals implemented in two groups: Group 1: Less 1 than year of adscription and Group 2: More than 1 year of adscription. The two surveys are: The European barometer survey includes 24 questions divided in 2 sections which are: tobacco consumption and opinion about smoke-free policies and the self-audit questionnaire includes 33 items that covers 9 topics which are: commitment, communication, education, identification and cessation support, tobacco control environment, health workplace, health promotion, and follow-up. The results gather have been studied using tendency central measures and the dispersion rate. The median comparison has been done with the Kolmogorow-Smirnow prove applying the T-test of Student. We considered the p<0.005 significance level.

Results: The hospitals which have been in the Network for more than 1 year have higher global scores; which means more preventive strategies in the tobacco control task. The results from the self-audit questionnaire show no differences in commitment scores. However, there are significant differences in the results about communication between the two groups. The results from group 2 show an improvement in achieving a healthier workplace in hospitals with more time in the Network (p=0, 03).
