The 13th World Conference on Tobacco OR HealthBuilding capacity for a tobacco-free worldJuly 12-15, 2006, Washington, DC, USA |
Objective:
Methods:
Results: I would like to show a poster about connections between tobacco industries and members of the society in Germany. These connections are described by the industry as the “third way”. Philip Morris said: “At the narrowest level, we want to do our part to prevent the rancorous conflict over tobacco in the United States from happening elsewhere. At a broader level we want to be a highly respected company with strong ties to society…”. There for they try, do have best contacts to politics, members of the government and the health system. They are sponsoring artists and scientists and social projects. My poster will describe the network of the tobacco industry in the society. I am convinced, that this network is responsible for the bad situation in Germany: free advertising, more than 700.000 cigarette machines, low taxes and smoking at work and in restaurants. I will show a list of politicians, who are working together with the tobacco industry, a list of projects, which are sponsored by this industry, a list of officials donations for the political parties etc. etc., some explanations and some photos.
