The 13th World Conference on Tobacco OR HealthBuilding capacity for a tobacco-free worldJuly 12-15, 2006, Washington, DC, USA |
Objective: 1. To describe the structure of the post-graduate program in tobacco control. 2. To describe the activities of 128 registered students in the program over 4 regular academic trimesters 3. To describe the output of participants in each of the courses.
Methods: 1. Computer tracking of all activities carried on the website of the courses by all registered participants. 2. Analysis of learning activities by families of tasks.
Results: The study group is made of 128 graduate students varying in age from 23 to 56, who have completed between 3 and 15 course credits of this graduate program in tobacco control. Indices of their efforts are computed from the number of contacts they have made on the website of the course and the type of activities that were completed (readings, participation in group discussion, data base searches). Their productivity is estimated from the numbers of written reports they have submitted, their contribution to the forum provided for each course and their standing on the final examination of the course.
