Objective: To determine the smoking prevalence in medical personnel of big maternity service from Romania.Bucuresti(3maternity service)Iasi (2 maternity service)Timisoara(1maternity service)
Methods: The ENSH questionnaire was translated in Romanian.500 questionnaires was directly distributed to the medical personnel.404 questionnaires were filled.
Results: 404 questionnaires were statistically analyzed. 80% from interrogated personnel answered.35.4% are smokers, especially the nurses 48.8% . A problem is that 64% of them dosen't have any attemption to quit, maybe because in dose services dosen't exist any smoking cessation centers. Conclusions:Smoking prevalence is high in medical personnel from the maternity service; especially in nurses and doctors. Smoking cessation of medical personnel will be reflected in smoking cessation programs for pregnant women.
